After well played semifinal, Kelly will play the final again

This morning, Thursday 5 September, Kelly reached the final again. It remains special to be able to play the final for the fourth consecutive time during her 5th competition at the Paralympic Games.

Kelly played against the Chinese WANG Rui this morning, against whom she had not played in the past three years. Due to Corona, Chinese athletes were not allowed to travel at all, so it was a matter of waiting to see what her level would be? The first game was evenly matched and at 9-9 Kelly served twice incorrectly, causing her to lose the game. Kelly played great in the second, especially by serving very well, often with a direct point. Furthermore she played fast and offensive, which regularly caused the Chinese problems. She brought the match back into balance with a score of 11-3. The third game was a beautiful sequel to the second one, Kelly won 11-6 with great concentration. The fourth game started a bit sloppy, but mainly due to Kelly’s service she also managed to win this game 11-6 and reached the final.

Tonight at 19:15 hours it will be a great match against the Turkish Kubra Korbut and that will certainly be fireworks. It is a well-known and great opponent, but Kelly is very confident also to bring this match to a good end. We will see if Kelly can win the Paralympic title for the fourth time in a row?
